Artist's Influences
Subject Matter:

Portraits of dogs in notorious historic paintings, endangered landscapes, and the landscapes of the African continent and Hawaiian Islands.

Statement:

I was never formally trained in oil painting, but California artist Skip Smith, John and Larry Iwerks and their mentor Ray Strong have been influences as to my approach and in subject matter in my paintings. Founding members of the O.A.K. Group in Santa Barbara, California, these artists, along with a dedicated collection of others, have brought about an awareness of the environment through their portraits of the landscapes, coastal, desert, and deep forest. They are doing today what Bierstadt, Church, Moran and others did with bringing the natural beauty of this country to the attention of the public through their art and advocating a greater awareness of the endangered lands that need to be preserved. Their work will be felt for centuries to come.
